Last 24 October the Interreg MED Programme celebrated the Interreg MED communities is a big event in Athens.
Since its creation in 2014, the Interreg MED programme has been continuously working to trigger real policy change in the territories. It is to this end that the Programme designed an innovative approach never implemented so far in Interreg. This approach coordinated by a specific type of projects, the Horizontal projects, integrates capitalisation from the start and at all levels of the Programme and of the projects.
MED for YOU – Unfolding a strong narrative for policy change gave the possibility to show the results reached so far by the communities and the Programme MED itself, presenting them around 2 questions directly linked to hot topics on the European Commission agenda but also to the objectives of the European cohesion policy: how to survive climate change, the Mediterranean way? and which drivers for a sustainable and inclusive growth?
Marianna Cavone (Puglia Region, LP of the TALIA project featuring the Social&Creative Community) illustrated the main achievements of the Social & Creative Community in the panel “Which drivers for a sustainable and inclusive growht?”, together with Panoramed and the Blue Growth and Sustainable Tourism communities.
At lunchtime, the Agora hosted the story of the most interesting experiences of the modular projects of each community. For the Social&Creative community, the activities and results of the Chimera, MD.Net, CreativeWear and Chebec projects were presented.
The second part of this event was devoted to a debate on post 2020 and the added value of European territorial cooperation in the Mediterranean. In light of the current and future landscape of the Mediterranean cooperation, we will raise the question of the Interreg MED Programme positioning.
The event ended with the performance of Teatro Ebasko “Europe’s kidnapping” offered by the Social&Creative Community showing, through the representation of a myth, how a day without Europe would look like.
