THE ADDED VALUE OF MED LEVEL COOPERATION

A common feature of the initiatives promoting Creative and Social Innovation in the Interreg MED Programme is that they are working towards innovation that is ‘inclusive by design’. They promote new business models and opportunities for employment, open up these possibilities to people and bring innovation to communities in rural, remote and insular areas to build territorial cohesion.

BUILDING TRANS-LOCAL INNOVATION ECOSYSTEMS
Trans-local innovation systems are those that develop in a double dynamic: on the one hand they are deeply embedded into trans-national networks and, at the same time, they are strongly grounded in local innovation communities. The resulting interplay between the local and global dimensions strongly reinforces innovation capacity. This trans-local dimension is easy to proclaim but not so easy to achieve in practice.

Innovaton is playing an increasing role across European policies at all levels, especially within the Naconal and Regional Smart Specialisaton Strategies for the 2014-2020 programming period.
